Five years and six-hundred fifty miles apart

As mentioned before my brother's wife is well dressed. This was sometimes a bonus for me. I never invested into my wardrobe. Mostly because I was in uniform or pajamas to work out in and didn't need to dress up in non uniform clothes. She and I were able to share shoes, some pants, shorts or skirts and some blouses. I loathed her tiny frame. We would go rummaging through thrift store racks and she could fit almost blouse she picked up where my options were limited. She has an upside down heart shaped frame where Ive got a down pointing, boxy-athletic triangle frame.

My brother and his wife are always surrounded by decent people. The kind of people it was easy to let your guard down around. The sort of people I later expected to become engaged with online. Even before they became parents, they were the sort of people to throw a barbecue in the middle of the week and welcome their neighbors casually to show up for a burger and a beer. Those kind of times I remember the most.

Lego Vision show of revolving Hand Unloaded

Learning that I might be in the wrong profession when I'm a day late and a dollar short.  Blaming genetics on being given male pattern baldness.  Playing with privacy.  How'd she say 'don't worry' tour.  How'd he say 'we just missed her.'  How he asks if the Lord is still with him.

  • Birds Ive seen in my yard and flying by
  • Cardinals
  • Woodpeckers
  • Sparrows
  • Geese
  • Hawk (might be someones pet)
  • Crows
Being blamed for losing your mind.  Looking the part but not playing it well.  A burrito from Tiauanna Flats, reading Romans 12:1.  Being badgered because all you know is a lie.  Because its too good to be true.  Needing to ignore myself and my intuition long enough to hear myself think.  Burned bridges.  Wages.  Trying to determine where God rests his hand again realizing that its where the power resides and is missed.  My mental absentee record causes me to outsource and gets me into trouble.  Pissing off city hall.  They want their recall numbers back.  Fashion ruts.  Fitness ruts.  Where's my strength and where is it spent.  Avoid being blind-sided.  Adult child concerned with being mistaken as a predator.

.......Cause there's this guy that walked in a bar and freaked out.... all because someone shouted "HoDown"....

Relentless Strike of a Fashion Bug

Unpacking my wardrobe. Making an assessment of the current garments that have occupied closet space, mysteriously followed me and landed here.   I'm in obvious need of a reality check. This is no laughing matter. Making a shopping list for the Walgreens cosmetic counter and pretending I'm instead going to make a visit with an Arbonne specialist or Maxx counter for lipstick, and concealer.  Like all I know are labels from Neiman Marcus.

The relentless strike of a Fashion Bug

The days have been counting down rapidly toward this special occasion I've been shopping for.  Questions like: What will I wear, what should I pack, and how should I have my hair and makeup have been keeping me up for days.

Thank goodness I decided to start shopping weeks prior.  One thing I cant deal with is sticker-shock.  It takes away from the whole experience of finding just the right look.  The most important thing I'm taking away from this whole ordeal is that nothing is impossible.

Since my wardrobe hasn't been invested into for years I was having a terrible time deciding if any pieces could be updated to make a new ensemble.  Low and behold I dug up 2 skirts and a blouse from my non-existent wardrobe that would work.

Just take a look at the wreck I was toward the end of this count down.

Starting a Blog

Blogging has its setbacks just like any other hobby. When someone decides to take their hobby to the next level, some road maps for success should be researched.  Before diving head first into expectations of overnight success, simply decide what the theme of your blog will be.  Keep yourself on track.  Ask yourself some questions to get started.  Like these:

Do you write poetry? Are you bothered by the minimum wage discussion? Has anyone ever mentioned that you look like someone famous? Are you the go to person among your group of friends to solve a dilemma? Do you need to study some, allot, or not at all before taking a test to get an A? Is there something unique about your demographics or heritage? Are you a secret admirer? Are you looking foreword to a special occasion? Do people compliment you on what you wear? Do you play an instrument? What songs do you like listening to?  What food do people demand only you can bring to social gatherings?  Do you have a favorite radio station? Are you constantly taking photos? Do you spend time visiting particular sites on the Internet? Do you have a video game console? What kind of games do you like playing on it? Have you recently lost a loved one? Do you read magazine articles and/or book reviews regularly? Is your household geared toward following certain teams during basketball, football, soccer, baseball, hockey, etc. season? Are you an athlete, educator, or movie enthusiast?

Now that you've figured out for instance that- you like to snap photos during your daily commute to football practice -or- find yourself over reacting to the recommendations your friend gave you about a movie-Lets get ready to start a blog.

Take a moment to write down on paper some details about your existing social network profiles like passwords, screen names, email accounts and other log in information you might need to refer back to.  Having this info written down will save time later on.

Now walk away.  Don't let your welcome wear off.  Treat your blog like a newly found treasure.  Wait.  Before you walk away jot down my page address and come back soon for the next installment of Starting a Blog!

The relentless strike of a Fashion Bug

So many great deals were going on.  I couldn't resist taking notes while on this calculated visit to the mall. Trying to do everything at once isn't easy.  Didn't even have time to try on shoes or accessories.

All the dresses I tried on at JCPenny were between $60-$95.  Of course the black sparkly one that looks the best is the most expensive.

Not a Kitchen Nightmare

During off time this week I decided to do some food-stylist type activity in my kitchen.  Eating right foods is difficult as it is when something quick and ready to eat is less satisfying.  The way food looks on a plate also helps in deciding what to eat.

Pay close attention to the television and any of the +Food Network programs.  Usually when the chefs are preparing something to eat in their kitchens, all of the utensils and foods are out on the countertop for quick and easy preparation.

Food Style works hand in hand with an easy to navigate cooking and prep area.  Does the inside of you're refrigerator look like something only used to store take out leftovers?  Can you visualize what items you've got on hand in your pantry cabinets without looking?  If you want to prepare a meal using what is in your pantry, do you first need to clear a sink full of dishes?  Do you unload and put away dishes from the dish washer shortly after they've been washed or wait until the next load needs to go in?
These are just a few thoughts.  For me, the joy of cooking and preparing meals gets lost when I try to begin from a messy prep station.  Try to think 2 or 3 meals in advance when cooking meals at home.  Remember not every time you want to make a meal going to the grocery store might not be an option.

Right now decide- is there anything in your freezer that could be defrosted?  What seasoning will be used to prepare fish, beef or poultry?  Do you find yourself more likely to make heavy hourdurvs for breakfast lunch and dinner?  What does your idea practical meal look like?

Eat what you feel comfortable preparing.  Imagine every meal you make being featured on television.
Marinade something ahead of time then be marveled.  The most amazing meal Ive had in weeks came from my kitchen pantry at home.

Navytimes ran a article about the closing of some base theaters.  Due to extensive budget reviews several military base theaters will be discontinued.  The reason I gathered from reading is a matter of cost relating to the expense of upgrading some outdated facilities.  On base theaters are competing with a demand for Imax ready cinemas that have become popular off base.  Fortunately the Navy decided to compensate by upgrading.
