Love and Loathing

Spaces to loathe and Holiday planning/gift giving ideas

I feel like I know how to create amazing spaces but just don't tap into this very often.  Its dawned on me recently while browsing a decor circular that I really enjoy feeling empowered by being able to piece together a whole theme and purpose from a few different 'statement' pieces.

Take for instance any ordinarily get together.  Be it tagging along with a sponsored group or private endeavor, owning my place in the moment by creating a space is important.

Freebies and collaborations are a good way to get conversation started.

Now watching news on human rights concerns wishing I had a huge current Sunday paper in front of me now.

Woke up to Sportsman channel on TV then switched to Jamie Foxx with Chaning Tatum twist on White House affairs

I would be an OK guy.

The Deviant

'Unlocked' by scavengers in public. The deviant plots different ways to expose themselves as a hero in situations created by him or her self.  The deviant chooses to lurk around and blend with like-able and respected peers.  The deviant is the first one blamed when something doesn't fit yet isn't always the culprit.  The deviant takes credit for anything going wrong or going right.  The deviant makes a point to embarrass anyone that believes they have caught him or her by laughing or indifferent in abundance. The deviant is directionless yet seems to be on point.  The deviant carries on beyond the life of the moment.  The deviant is roused by this.    The deviant believes themselves to be victims when taunted or glory given to someone besides them.  Beware of the deviant.  He or she looks just like you, likes the same things you do and your mom likes them.

Closet check time..for me at least.  Forever trying to find something to wear and have trouble keeping up with laundry?  This post is for you.

Starting with a basket of clean laundry that needs to be folded.  How do you decide what clothes go where?  Personally, I choose to keep most of my clothes-even teeshirts and pajamas-hanging up.  At some point I'll edit this post and add video as to how I am able to combine several items on as few hangers as possible for this demonstration.

Since I use closet space rather than bureaus for putting away most of my clothes, rotating items in the space gets done frequently.  Hanging up clothes properly saves time.  Clothes are ready to wear.  No need to iron if the system is maintained.  Closet rotation is important.  If you're using up all the hanging space with unused or seldom worn items, you're creating a bottleneck.  Cramming clothes into spaces might result in hardware malfunction and wrinkled clothes. Stop and evaluate the space you use for hanging clothes from time to time.  Underwear and our favorite t shirts have a shelf life.

Do you always know what to wear and when to wear it?  More times than none I can be caught romping everywhere all day in something that I know should be reserved as pajamas only or just relaxing clothes.  Keeping up with laundry is the best way to have something pressed and ready to change into, avoiding the faux pas of being always under dressed.

In this post we talked about managing closet space and I'm still looking at this laundry basket.  Laundry baskets are meant for collecting the dirty clothes and make it easier to get stuff to and from the laundromat or laundry area at mom and dads house. The purpose is defeated when the baskets aren't emptied and put back in their collection area-usually near the shower for me because the clothes will land on the floor otherwise.

Lastly, on rotating.  This is common sense but sometimes I should be reminded.  Instead of complaining about having nothing to wear, take a reusable shopping bag-fold up 3 or 4 pieces of unworn, gently used and clean garments and donate them.  Getting rid of something before immediately going to shop for something new will help keep you focused on where you're spending money.  Investing into your appearance by taking care of the clothes you already have will either inspire you or not.

Manage spaces where stored garment are kept.  Underwear and tee shirts have a shelf life too
Get rid of something is the best way for some to know what needs to be replaced
Laundry baskets are meant for collecting dirty clothes and transport to washer and dryer
Leaving items in the basket that have been washed waiting to be folded messes up the system.
I use closet space, hangers, and shelves instead of bureau for putting away most clothes.
How do we spend money saved time and investment later by categorizing on how clothes are cared for is the next wardrobe Wednesday topic.

Trivia Tuesday

I need this not to be funny. What network daytime talk shows nationally do the most pro bono?  Today, Good Morning America, Ellen and Rachael Ray come to mind first.  Has Bethenny, Wendy, Queen Latifah, Steve Wilcos or anyone else been able to successfully disguise their busy mind and bleeding heart for humanity

Where did I go wrong in those two. How come I cant see the solution. Let her sign him into what. Been on their mind all day. She wont dress properly. Get fit. Be in her wedding. They love you two. Brought her up like she doesn't know who those two are. Who still believes like this. How come he's kept so holy, it creeps them out. Yep, she's been there.(all sleeping.)

#DIY

When your familiar starts to get drowned out.  Remember that being happy, compelled, and enthusiastic are undervalued qualities.  News is welcomed, embraced then consumed.  Help someone in need that is found in a place of deception or addiction with an urgent message of hope and recovery.  Talking in circles gets dogged.  Lost coin parable.  High and Dry b/c no one who needs food and shelter want their heat stolen.  More play writing and framing casts.

Now its time to hunt.

Grab that bag of reusable eggs and use them as props at landmarks, season opener baseball games, at the gym, at Coldstone, Petsmart, on your TMobile phones, watching Fox Sports network, reading #TFLN expressionless, where you congregate, etc.  Think: Collecting BIG beads.  Find someone trying to take a selfie and sabotage them by being IN THE WAY GUY or GIRL.  Tag your friend lawn, windshield or office space with marshmallow peeps on a stick and get pictures.
And lastly,
Don't forget priorities: pay that phone, internet and cable/satellite bill

More neat ways to explore using the Foursquare app:
  • Plan a fundraiser.  Try scouting out venues and local businesses that would offer a corporate sponsorship that might honor the number of patrons that use the app to check in with their product as a prize or cash.  (Think like the scene in +The Internship )if we rally 100 visits in 90 minutes to your business would you be interested in helping out our fundraiser?

Social and personal responsibility rests upon an individual to appreciate aspects of black culture.
Tell me about black history from your perspective. Were all characters role models, perfect citizens and scholars? Didn't think so.  We turn to the people we trust of this generation to introduce us to the stories of Medgard Evers, Nikki Giovanni, Cornell West, Melisa Harris Perry, Tyler Perry and Tj Holmes.

Starting a Blog: Video Editing

Adding dimension to a video blog post has been simplified by YouTube. Ever find yourself speaking something that makes sense but can't write the thought out quickly enough? Here's what I did: Using the 'voice note recorder' feature on my laptop I was able to capture the essential point I was trying to make.  Next, using the 'record via webcam' option on YouTube I uploaded the voice note in video form.  Different techniques are available on the video editor page.  For example I could access this post and change it slightly by creating a 'photo slide show' instead.
Once the initial video had been uploaded, be sure to add content to the video description box.  It makes for simple to follow, engaging clip to share with your audience.

Reign of Rhonda: Uncomfortable in Abundance

Went to bed last night as a last resort without the TV on.  Decided my master bath needed a facelift so bought a shower plant and  new outlet plates from Lowe's. Moving some accessories from the guest bath around as well.

What workplace etiquette is applied to mixing business with pleasure?

There isnt a formula that applies to every situation, however, some guidelines are discussed in the article.

I love my kitchen like an office kitchenette during the day.  Here are a few items I'm looking for to keep this a happy space.

Coffee cup mug rug

Soft pipe cleaning tools since I can't find any water bottle replacement straws.

Soft scrub and disposable dish washing towels.

The Max Perks reward card could be used for these type of supplies.

Lastly, don't be shocked  when a coworker decides to post updates from different sources like this on the cabinet door.  They just want you to stay informed.

Reign of Rhonda: Uncomfortable in Abundance

At this point where I'm realizing I need help getting rid of stuff b/c I can't afford the time it consumes maintaining it.

Do I need a new hairstyle? A haircut?  An empty room? An escape? A new schedule? Sleep walking through daily motions, needing somewhere safe.  I'm assuming the nature of a different mammal.

I'm attached to the comfort of having my phone in hand, this house to romp around in, somewhere to leave from and return to thats familiar.

When that balance in thrown off by outside influence that also need a point to revolve around, Im still.

Glocal Temperature Check: Education and Attendance

Empowering self governance.  Attendance matters and reflects later on in life.  Ask yourself this question: Am I able to do anything different to help?  How out of touch are we as decision makers?  Are foundational steps being made to build better educational goals for youth?  How does social economic standard apply to adapting to where change happens?  Minimum wage.  Business owners have difficult time raising the wage of their employees and find themselves in a bind when people they've hired cant show up to work.

How do we reduce the complications of attendance?  Are administrative agendas getting in the way of or helping the overall performance of a district?  Are we asking the right questions?  How can some of the complications be alleviated from the group progress?  If a school isn't preforming well ask the right questions.  What percentage of students present only part of the time are affecting the group as a whole?  What is being done to change this, enforce attendance and create incentives for attendance?

Concerns to still be addressed and work toward progress involve creating less complicated process for attendance.  When classmates notice their peers constantly showing up unprepared wearing inappropriate articles, it shows.  Classmates that fall behind are in a constant state of catch up.  How do we bridge the gap of highly effective students and bring everyone up to speed?

Bubbly teachers, engaged students who want to learn and be accounted for, every seat occupied. This is a good day not only for teachers and administrators but for the students especially.
Educators being happy with what they have been given.  Our investments in high quality early education showing.

How are we supposed to shake up the system and help students look at college as an option if we cant get them to attend grammar school on a regular basis?

How do we insure caretakers and breadwinners upward mobility and not guilt trip them for needing to nurse their home back into health without throwing a label on their circumstance and harbor a trend of illness?

MeatlessMovieNight Monday

Must see movie(s) include the following:

Captain Philips is a film produced following a storyline of real life events.  An ocean liner travels around the horn of Africa towing tons of cargo try's to evade the threat of being hijacked.  Somali Pirates are furious about being left without resource while corporations are making lots of capital.  We are introduced to both sides through this movie.

Listen to the commentary here for the Sundance Film festival.  I'm curious to see some of the films mentioned.  As a fan I enjoy hearing the discussions.  The hosts of this episode watched about thirty films and share insight through discussion.  Intrigued by the description of a film that took place with the storyline of an outcast trying to fit in with his peers.

The Tracking of an Ill Bit

re connected hifi system pondering what psychological behavior is being tracked by app data, how  her play is watched, possessed and tempered.

Operating within a soul rescue and restoration business. I believe I know what I heard.  Eye don't give a damn.   I'm noticing how my priorities change from day to day.  Who I think I am vs who I end up waking up to isnt the same.  For instance, with all good intentions I set a wake up call for myself last night intended to leave for the gym.  Instead I've found myself stuck in the kitchen baking cookies, being stared at by the dogs, wondering why I didn't anticipate the snowfall.  I may have become someone's shut in premature elderly aunt, granny, grandma or other similar entity.  Like I've retired and become the catch all for fun drama.  Trying to figure a way out of or response for being asked is there anything I could do for you?  In other words, being served in concept makes me feel old, shrewd, and undeserving.

The act plays out as such, Know black culture cartoons and street talk.  Children,  females, dogs and possessions like  cars are all the same.  Offenses make money.    It's not what you feel but how your reaction is read.

Tracking an ILL bit.

Reign of Rhonda: Uncomfortable in Abundance

I went through the house this morning.  Made a list of all the immediate items I'd like to replace and donate.
With list in hand I headed over to the Garden Ridge.  Cautious about the compulsive shopping spending habits I took the opportunity to window shop.

Found a new app for tracking the food I consume.  The foodies are really good about taking pictures, making the meal look effortless and appetizing.
Highball glasses.  Wooh pretty.  I like these water gobblets as well.
Seems like a great place to start.  When I want to eat something regardless of prep time  at least it could look nice.

These photo boxes look so nice on display.
Wall art at the store is placed nicely and brings your eyes up.  I was looking for a huge floor piece that would function similar to these.

Lastly, here's a neat idea for wall decor.  I was looking for the window clings and came across these.

The point of this post wasn't to make myself go crazy and upset about making my home look like something out of a magazine, but instead to remind myself of all the possibility that lies in rotating and decluttering spaces that are dwelling areas at home.

Ignoring a trump ticket.  Being rapid.  Finding some place to loiter. Realizing I'm better.

Acknowledging the bead that saves your life.

Getting misunderstood.  Somehow not looking the part that you've been playing.  Maybe I'm at Disneyland.  Maybe in a home getting everyone out the door for the day.

Maybe I'm a grouchy old woman stuck in bed out of place wherever I go.

Maybe I'm a kid leaving gym class, being taunted for having my number dialed.
